The Immortal's Game Chapter 4
Chapter 4: The old God: Deus in Explosivae
I sat across from Roxy who slept somewhat soundly on the couch. There were points where her breathing became irregular and she tossed in her sleep, mumbling the word burn over and over until her mouth and throat began to dry up.
I heard footsteps come down the stairs and I recognized the light padding of Kjerstine’s feet. It would take her thirteen steps to get from the bottom of the steps to be in view of the couch. I waited and counted the steps until the faithful thirteenth when the steps stopped and there was nothing in the house except the sound of water rushing through the pipes.

Chapter 3: Striking the match
I looked over to Kjerstine, noting the blade she held in her hand and felt a familiar tingling within my arm. An almost nostalgic feeling such as when you remember times with an old friend. She stepped over the body and over to me, her grip never failing on the blade, her eyes never moving away from mine. I watched her come up to me then look behind her at the body.
“You made quite the mess this time Akero.”
“I am sorry. He chose to come to such a revealing area. I could not restrain myself from the hunt.”
She clicked her tongue in her mouth and looked back to me. There was not the sof

I stood through flame and shadow,
I made it through the wars,
I bear strong my scars,
For we are knight,
The blade and blood for the kingdom.
Knowing not but our steps,
We march through and through the hells man made,
Swing and swing through the bleed walls man made ,
And move to repeat again.
For we are knight
The men and monsters for the kingdom.
No longer but men,
We are knight,
Skin sewn to metal,
Our blood all left of ourselves,
For we are knight,
The gears and cogs of the kingdom.
We are battle sworn,
Battle worn,
Battle torn,
Spending each heartbeat amongst the fires.
For we are knight,
Brothers born of other’s blood.

The only sound he could hear was the slamming of his heart in his ears. The only thing he could see in the darkness were the faint reflections of orange streetlights in the pools which surrounded him. The only thing he could feel was the smooth wooden handle, studded with three nails one quarter of an inch wide, in his hand. The only thing he could smell was the soft autumn breeze which filtered through the stench and rot of the alleyway. The only thing he could taste was the salt and iron from the blood which stained his lips and visage, masked by the darkness to passersby.
The darkness followed him this night

Chapter 2: Kill or be Killed
The morning seemed to go off with a hitch. There were no delays, with the exception of the administration quickly questioning me about my jump and my apparent health given a drop which should have shattered both of my legs and my hips.
After I relayed to them my name during the introductions a few members of the class seemed to recognize me from my first year there. The class ended with a homework assignment and a few of the students who remembered me came over to my desk as I was clearing up. There were three of them, two girls and a young man who seemed to be familiar with me.

Once upon a time, long before the days and nights we see before us, once stood a kingdom of unrivaled pride and majesty. The kingdom made others know of its strength and its nobility took influence amongst most of the world.
Within this kingdom though, to the northeast of the capital lived an engineer; one who worked with the upkeep and maintenance of the kingdoms machinery where it was most pressing. This engineer was unlike most, she was a woman, and she was also the child of a foreigner, pushing her to the bottommost rung of the kingdoms echelon having lived in filth and slums for her childhood onwards. These two facts shaped her life gre

In all honesty I always wanted to be human. The idea of being human always appealed to me. No worries, minor stress… Not worrying about a knife to your throat or having your life torn asunder made the human life seem like paradise. No matter what I did though I could never make it work. Pretending to live a human life always made things worse in the end. I could never run away far enough, or fast enough. Now that I think though; if you run away far enough, you end up running towards the danger.
I rubbed my chin gently, feeling the drying stubble of blood coat my face. I noticed it was still a little fresh, some patches rubbing off on

Something arrived as loud cracks perforated the darkness and I could feel my bones being broken through the darkness to form a body. Next there was bizarre heat which formed around the bones; constituting flesh and bone conjoined. I struggled to understand when the void filled with a sound, a beating, and life was given to the dark.

Chapter 13: The old king is dead, long live the king!
I barely remember anything about my childhood. I only remember what I was taught from my lessons and my stunts to impress Six and get working in the field. When I was younger I cut my hand open on a piece of wood and sat on the ground crying my eyes out. I thought it was the end of the world. I felt myself picked up and put onto someone’s lap when I saw it was Six. She kissed my hand and gently bounced me on her knee.
“Sa, I have told you to be careful when you are out here outside of class. What were you even doing out here?”

I woke up and my arms her weld to my sides by seemingly nothing and I threw my arms up and ripped my suit. Patches of fabric clung to my skin as I lost my mind for a brief second screaming the absolute bloodiest demise to whoever did this.
“You care much about your clothes, no?”
I looked straight ahead and saw it was the man with black hair sitting across from me. I held out my hand pointing a finger at him and quickly dashed grabbing my spade which had been placed on a desk next to me. I dug the toes of my foot into the carpet of the room and spun, my hand sliding smoothly along the shaft until

Jack placed his scalpels in his pant’s belt loops and strolled to the elevator entrance whistling a song which reminded me of baby birds. I walked back with him and tried not looking back at where the bodies were. I gripped my hands tight until my knuckles were pale, and I wondered what kind of man Jack really was.
